Inexpensive Last-Minute Gifts for Valentine’s Day

Let’s face it: Valentine’s Day is the ONE day out of the year that you can show your special someone just how much they mean to you. However, with the recent dips in the economy some of our pockets are a little thinner. I’m sharing several ideas that will still let your honey know how much you care about them….albeit with limited funds.

Create a coupon book

Sometimes it’s better to show your love and appreciation, and a coupon book let’s you do exactly that. This gift can be designed on your favorite computer program and printed on old-fashioned colored paper, or it can be handwritten. You can include some spicy coupons and some sweet ones as well.

i.e. Dear lover, To show you how much I love you, I will give you a Saturday off from the kids. Love, boo.

Spa à la home

Mimic the experience of a five-star spa right in your own home. Light some candles around your bathroom, throw some flowers on the ground and grab some bubble bath, bath salts, milk or honey and let your significant other soak in the ambiance. When they’re done you can give them the massage of a lifetime, right in the comfort of your own bed and go from there.

Bring the five-star dinner home

The fancy five-star meal your lover wants on Valentine’s Day can be created right at home. Find out their favorite meal and research on YouTube, cooking channels and chef websites. Visit your local farmer’s market for all of the ingredients you’ll need to create your own, “le cordon bleu” experience!
