The custody battle is on and now the gloves are off! Wow…iconic Black actress Halle Berry is in the scandal of her lifetime. After giving birth to a baby girl, Nahla, ex-boyfriend and French-Canadian fashion model Gabriel Aubry grew increasingly angry when his daughter was referred to as “black”, and requested once to have that race preference retracted. Furthermore, the Canadian model’s dating life after his split with Halle roused her concern for Nahla’s well-being, so much that they are “duking it out” in court to gain some ounce of custody. This is mainly Aubry’s doing, since he was uncooperative to Berry’s amicable attempts to settle. But that’s not the end of it!
A former source to Gabriel Aubry revealed that once him and Halle split, his behavior worsened, including verbally threatening her life, and calling her the “N” word (y’all know which one I’m talking about…) But, let’s look at this for a second: IS Halle one or not? To the Black population, OF COURSE…just because she’s biracial does NOT exclude her from being called one every once in a while from the right party. But from a FRENCH-CANADIAN (White) model? NO WAY! It would be more than fair for her to throw hot grits on his face for that without recourse. In fact, I would help her cook them to the right temperature!
No boyfriend (or man) should berate the mother of his child, no matter what race, color, creed, etc. It’s simply unacceptable for a man to act this way, especially while his child is growing and observing everything about their surroundings. Take, for example, Halle’s daughter Nahla, who is in the middle of this nasty feud. If those two don’t get it together, she’ll grow up to be one disturbed teenager!
Now we both know there are two sides to one story, and Halle isn’t the saint in this tale. Although her camp is painting Aubry to be a borderline racist, insensitive and financially unstable man, there are claims that Halle alludes to him as a “sperm bank”…which is REALLY harsh, especially when you know you love your daughter. It’s no surprise that Halle was the breadwinner in the relationship, but it still didn’t give her cause to ridicule her ex-boyfriend like that!
No matter what, though, both Halle and Gabriel need to be adult enough to know what’s best for Nahla. Quit all the mud-slinging and the cruel remarks! Focus your energy on what matters most: your child!
