Mother Jailed For Defending Daughter On Schoolbus

Laura Booker Wanted To Get Help For Her Bullied Daughter

A mother wanted to get some justice for her 13-year-old daughter who was being teased on the school bus.

Laura Booker went to confront the bus driver after several unanswered complaints from school officials.

Booker waited for the students to get off and then confronted the Sanford Middle School bus drier about her daughter.

Police were called when the driver told Booker to get off his bus after repeatedly telling her, “Your daughter’s a liar.”

“I knew I couldn’t get on the bus when kids were on the bus, but I never knew I couldn’t get on the bus when the kids were off the bus,” Booker said.

Booker said she just had to protect her child.

“Everybody wants me off the bus, but nobody is resolving anything,” Booker said. “Had anybody tried to resolve it in the first place, I wouldn’t have been on the bus.”

Booker was arrested on charges of trespassing and resisting arrest.

“I didn’t know what to do so I went to talk to another adult,” Booker said. “My mother always told us to take a stand for what we believe in, but be prepared for the consequences.”

A mother is sometimes like a lion defending his pride when it comes to her children. I do believe that she had good intentions and things just escalated.  The way the cops took her down was just UNCALLED for! I guess they thought they were under duress. The school plans to investigate the matter and I hope they find something that corroborates her claims. Oftentimes, it seems that schools are not cracking down on BULLYING like they need to…until the press gets involved.
