Make Sure You Don’t Break One Of These Rules
Don’t be THAT guest. You know, the one who shows up to Thanksgiving dinner and leaves everybody wondering why they invited you in the first place.
Thanksgiving Etiquette Guide
1. Don’t Show up Empty Handed.
How dare you show up to Thanksgiving dinner without bringing ANYTHING! That’s just plain rude and shows little appreciation for your host. If you don’t feel like preparing a dish bring some wine or brews. Don’t be prepared to eat at my table if you aren’t contributing.
2. Use Foil At Your Own Risk
If you’re going to take a plate home with you, be prepared to make arrangements to carry your food home with you. My dishes are staying in MY house.
3. Be Lenient With Extra Guests
You can’t get invited to Thanksgiving dinner and show up with 3 extra people, be considerate and ask if it’s okay in advance.
4. Schedule Flights At A Convenient Time
There’s just no way I’m coming to pick you up from the airport at 6pm on Thanksgiving. Book your flight schedule in the morning….or better yet rent a vehicle!
5. Keep Your Children Under Control
Nothing is worse than misbehaved children during the holidays. Bring movies, books, toys or whatever you need to keep your little ones entertained during the big day.
6. Drink Responsibly
Don’t be the guest that gets obnoxiously drunk and starts spilling the beans to Uncle Larry on why you hate Aunt Glenda. Just don’t do it. It’s not the time nor the place.
7. Don’t Expect To Crash
My home is not a hotel. Make sure to make sleeping arrangements in advance…or you could always join the Occupy movement in your city to get a tent for the night.
