It All Falls Down! Eddie Long’s Wife Backtracks On Divorce

Has the veil finally been lifted?

Vanessa Long filed for divorce from Bishop Eddie Long on Thursday.

The Bishop infamously settled a lawsuit with four young men,  Anthony Flagg, Spencer LeGrande, Jamal Parris and Maurice Robinson,
who accused him of coercion into sexual acts – by showering them with gifts and money. A fifth accuser, Centino Kemp, was also found.

Although Vanessa was pictured at his side in the beginning of the scandal, she has since remained distant as more and more information leaked.

She’s released this statement:

After a great deal of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to terminate my marriage to Bishop Eddie L. Long. Accordingly, I authorized my attorneys to file for divorce on December 1, 2011.

It is my sincere hope that this matter can be resolved expeditiously, harmoniously, and fairly. I ask that you respect my privacy and that of my family, as my attorneys and I have agreed that we will not try this case in the media, and I do not intend to make any further statements concerning this matter.

I also ask that the public pray for my entire family during this difficult period of transition.

Thank you, and may God continue to bless and keep each of you.

Remember when New Birth Missionary Baptist Church denied the rumors that Vanessa was moving out? I knew there was something else going on.

Vanessa and Eddie have three children together, Edward, Jared and Taylor.

UPDATE:

Seems like Vanessa couldn’t stand the heat and backtracked her divorce announcement.

“Upon prayerful reflection, I have reconsidered and plan to withdraw my petition for divorce from my husband, Bishop Eddie L. Long,” she said in an emailed statement bearing the New Birth logo. “I love my husband. I believe in him and admire his strength and courage.”

I’m now wondering what Eddie did to get her to reconsider.

Maybe there was another payoff? hmmmm……

Do you think that it was time for Vanessa to move on?
