(Get those tape measures-out for this post. You will need it by the end of the post!)
Body shape is no doubt a huge part of what a man finds most attractive about a woman. Sir Mix-A-Lot tells it best, “You other brothers can’t deny/ That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist/ And a round thing in your face/ You get sprung.” And as shocking as it may seem, Sir Mix-A-Lot was onto something! Not only was this statement backed by “other brothers,” but also by science.
This post has been in the top since it was posted March 8, 2011. I have decided to give a Dr.O example of 4 of the body types.
Hourglass-Of course this is Beyonce’ in my opinion. You can certainly challenge this in the comment section. She did somehow miraculously loose her baby fat weight really fast after giving childbirth. Maybe this is just what Jay’ Z might like. Now this body type was real popular back in the 80s. We all remember the song “BrickHouse” that referenced 36-24-36. (mighty-mighty) Would you be considered a BrickHouse or a log cabin?
Ruler-Now I am sure you all would agree that this is Naomi Campbell. Now come on ladies being a ruler-shape ain’t all that bad. As a matter-of-fact, most models have this body type. Personally I think it would get a little boring by year three of the marriage, but I am only one person. You have to be careful with trying to maintain this body type, we don’t want Anorexia to slip in. Be proud to be a ruler just Not a pencil.
Spoon-Now Queen Latifah gets this one hands down. On the street they would refer to this body type as “Junk in the Trunk.” A lot of man really get turned on by this one. However, we usually frown when the trunk got too much junk or a built in shelf on top of it. Yea we all got an auntie, grandma or church mother who has a shelf on her butt. LOL It is what it is! Everybody doesn’t have a treadmill or stair master at home. Moreover a membership to LA Fitness can be expensive for some. A spoon ain’t bad if their is a fork with it!
Cone(Triangle)-Patti La’Belle hands down. We all love a good Patti concert. The most entertaining part is when she kicks those shoes off and rocks across that stage. I loved seeing her on Broadway in the musical “FELA.” You all have a chuckle by now butt, I mean but it is important for us to recognize the different flavors in the chocolate box.
Questions for you to ponder:
- What is your body type?
- Are you pleased with your derriere?
- Do you need to join quick weight loss?
- Do you own several girdles?
- Are you an employee or consumer of body magic?
Now some men you fit the above body types-so don’t sleep.
Waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) is a key indicator as to how attractive a female appears to a man. Researcher Barnaby Dixson explains that “it is likely that perfect 0.7 ratio sends a biological signal to men that that woman is most fertile and most likely to produce a healthy offspring, no matter what size that woman is.” Dixson adds, “humans simply do not mate randomly.”
Psychologist Devendra Singh, of the University of Texas studied people’s WHR and explained in a livescience.com interview,
“The idea is that beauty is conveying information about health and fertility, and we admire that.” In fact, people with the ideal ratio, regardless of weight, are less susceptible to cardiovascular disorders, cancer and diabetes. Also, women in that target 0.7 ratio-range have less difficulty conceiving.”
Singh also points out that all winners of the “Miss America contests” from 1920 until the 1980`s had a WHR between 0.72 and 0.69. He also found that playboy’s models WHR was between 0.71 and 0.68. For decades the ideal waist-to-hip ratio was consistently 0.7, despite the changing body weight of these models.
Celebrities with the “ideal ratio” include: Jessica Alba, Marilyn Monroe and Beyonce’. A 24-inch waist while measuring 34-inches around the hips calculates to a .706 WHR, as does 26-37.
Ladies, please take this with a grain of salt! It is only ONE of MANY reasons a man finds you attractive! If you already started doing sit-ups in the middle of this posting, you may be taking it a little too seriously.
Want to find out what your Waist-to-Hip ratio is? Pull our your measuring tape and divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement. Best part about it? The ratio (not the size) is what matters.
