Casey Anthony: “I Didn’t Kill My Daughter, But…”

Casey Anthony, a Florida woman who was tried for the death of her daughter, finally broke her silence on Tuesday saying to CNN’s Piers Morgan that she was rightfully not found guilty.

“Obviously, I didn’t kill my daughter,” said Anthony, and Morgan reported.  The two talked on the phone for roughly 10 minutes.

Anthony claims, “If anything, there’s nothing in this world l’ve ever been more proud of, and there’s no one I loved more than my daughter. She’s my greatest accomplishment.”

Anthony, 26, was acquitted last summer of murder charges in the death of Caylee, 2, in 2008, but instead was convicted of 4 counts of lying to authorities while investigating the child’s disappearance.  When convicted, she was given credit for time already spent in jail and was later released on July 17th.

A year has past since the commotion and Anthony has been living in seclusion.  A judge ruled she must serve a year of probation from her 2010 conviction on charges related to check fraud!

This girl just doesn’t know when to chill out!

Anthony claims, “I didn’t kill my daughter, but I’m ashamed in many ways of the person that I was.”  Reflecting on past interviews, “Even then, that wasn’t who I am.”  “I’m 26 and I’ve gone through hell.”

Casey Anthony’s daughter, Caylee, age 2, wasn’t reported missing until July 15, 2008, when her mother tracked her down and demanded answers to Caylee’s whereabouts.  Police searched for Caylee for five months until she was found in the woods only one mile away from her grandparents’ home in Orlando.

Prosecutors alleged that Casey Anthony used chloroform to render her daughter unconscious.  She then duct taped her mouth and nose to suffocate her.  They alleged that Anthony then put Caylee in her trunk for a couple of days before disposing of the body.

Casey Anthony’s defense attorney was steadfast on the idea that Cayle was not murdered.  The attorney claimed that the child drowned in the Anthony’s above-ground swimming pool.  Where the parents, George and Casey Anthony, panicked when they found her there and tried to cover up her death.  George Anthony DENIED these allegations in testimony.

Wow!  And to this day, this still doesn’t add up.

Since then, Casey Anthony has remained under the radar.  After this story made national headlines, she has stayed away from the spotlight.  Then a video diary of her ‘mysteriously’ found its way on YouTube.  In the video, Anthony talks about her new dog she adopted.  She wore dark-rimmed glasses and colored her naturally blonde hair to be a brunette.

Anthony told Morgan that she didn’t trust law enforcement then, and still doesn’t now.  She adds that the image that the public still has of her is inaccurate.

She contradicted the photo that was posted of her partying during the missing period of her daughter, “I’ve never been a party girl. I don’t drink now. I’ve probably had a handful of beers since I’ve been on probation.”

For some reason, I cannot believe or feel sympathy for Casey Anthony.  She murdered her daughter!  And IF she didn’t (that’s a strong ‘if’), she knew who did!!  I don’t see how she still has yet to clear her name.

Maybe one day her story will make since of what happened.

What do you think? — Did Casey Anthony murder her daughter?  Why or why not?
