Oprah donates $12 million to African-American Museum!

Oprah Gail Winfrey an American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist, has opened her bank account and sponsored a cause that might be as big to her opening her school in Africa. Oprah has given $12 million dollars to the building of an African American museum. Oprah is a woman who takes pride in her complexion, so she definitely took interest in the building of a museum in honor of people her heritage.

Read Oprah’s statement about her donation released by the museum.

By investing in this museum, I want to help ensure that we both honor and preserve our culture and history, so that the stories of who we are will live on for generations to come. I am so proud of African-American history and its contributions to our nation as a whole. I am deeply appreciative of those who paved the path for me and all who follow in their footsteps.

Oprah, you have definitely shown appreciation for those before you by achieving the things you have done. For without the people before you, you may have never  had the chance to go as far as you’ve gone in your career and contributions to the world. Because of this, you’ve placed your own footprints in the sands of time. Black History has a deep and sometimes dark past but as a culture we always have found ways to look past it.

As a people, African Americans have faced true tribulation, and at times felt their own condemnation made things the way they were. However, because of people before Oprah and now with people like Oprah setting the standard for many of us to follow, we can do anything we want to achieve. Be thankful for what you have; “you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have you will never, ever have enough”. Great words of wisdom Ms. Winfrey!
