Are you a Crack Head?

Are you a Crack Head? Crack heads are more specifically described as people who have an addiction to Crack Cocaine. There is no medical use for crack. There is a medical use for regular cocaine it is used as an anesthetic in eye surgeries but not crack cocaine. That’s first thing first; Crack is a highly addictive drug (as is regular cocaine). Although it is not physically addictive (there are no physical withdrawal symptoms) it is highly psychologically addictive (meaning, it causes your brain to crave more of it). It is nearly impossible to do crack without becoming addicted to it. Smoking crack causes you to lose all your inhibitions and judgment, some people will do anything for crack such as steal or prostitute to get it. This is because, when you run out of crack, the craving to do more is so irresistible, that you may find yourself down on your hands and knees on the floor, searching for any tiny pieces of crack that you may have dropped. People who do this look like chickens pecking at the ground, and thus are called “chicken heads.”

  • an increasing sense of energy and alertness
  • an extremely elevated mood
  • a feeling of supremacy

On the other hand, some people describe other feelings tagging along with the high:

  • irritability
  • paranoia
  • restlessness
  • anxiety

Signs of using cocaine include:

  • dilated pupils
  • high levels of energy and activity
  • excited, exuberant speech

Long-term effects from use of crack cocaine include severe damage to the heart, liver and kidneys. Users are more likely to have infectious diseases. Continued daily use causes sleep deprivation and loss of appetite, resulting in malnutrition. Smoking crack cocaine also can cause aggressive and paranoid behavior, coming down from the drug causes severe depression. This becomes deeper after each use.
