Minecraft Added Fireflies To The 1.19 Update, So The Real Pet Frogs Of Kids Won't Croak Minecraft 1.19 is available today, loading up the Wild Update's new mobs, biomes, and technical changes. It's the last push of (almost) all the new features that were first introduced to players during Minecraft Live in 2020 and the final of three major updates. As always, there are no secrets to be kept from the day of launch, Agnes Larsson, Minecraft game director, and Ulraf Vaknin, developer, assure me. Mojang is as dedicated to feedback from players as ever-or otherwise, why bother with snapshot builds, release candidates and betas-and the developers talked about some of the changes that 1.19 went through after players played with the game. The Wardens, which are dangerous could have seen the biggest changes in the course of development. Vaknin states, "That was a place we were looking to both our technical and challenge players for feedback." In their March debut snapshot the Wardens were already very scary when I first attempted to play with them. They made a terribly intense heartbeat sound when they became angry and roared at me and destroyed every single chicken I put in their path to distract them. They now have an sonic attack, as well as a power that can be aimed from their chests to deal with players who discovered how to cleverly creep out of their long arms' reach. The Skulk, those new snitch-y, Warden-summoning blocks found in the Deep Dark biome, also received updates based on feedback from players who appreciate the redstone tech aspect of Minecraft. "We looked at some of the devices that people tried to create, but they didn’t work due to some glitches in the code. We modified it to make it more intuitive." Mojang continues to make an impact on feedback. Prior to the Wild Update, fireflies (originally described as frog food in Minecraft Live 2020) have been a surprising point of disagreement, so much that an earlier Q&A video on the new Wild Update features was titled "What did the fireflies do in Minecraft 1.19?" Anna Lundgren, the producer of that video, explained that viewers have pointed out how fireflies can cause poisoning in Frogs. In Kirn , Larsson and Vaknin elaborate that it wasn't just players who sounded the alarm. "I got reached out to by pet shop owners who stated that there was a problem with people not getting educated about this, and there are memes about fireflies eating frogs,"" Vaknin says. "So people have already made this mistake and if Minecraft makes this mistake even more obvious, it can make it even worse." "We are able to reach millions of players," Larsson says. Larsson says, "And that should come with a lot of responsibility. We were aware that the release of a feature like fireflies which are poisonous to frogs, and having Frogs eat them could lead to people killing real frogs. We have millions of players, and this should be a source of immense responsibility. While my instinct is to defend developers who change their minds about in-development features, Larsson's more measured explanation seems smarter. Minecraft has been more than an online game for a long time in the present, and is now marketing itself as a learning tool as well. New Minecraft features aren't only tied to Bedrock or Java editions or PC vs Xbox interfaces, Mojang also must consider its role as a source of entertainment and education for its huge audience of young kids. In the absence of fireflies as frog food, Larsson says that the scope of the new bugs was vastly smaller. Mojang decided to get rid of the bugs completely and move them back to the grand idea catalog. This will allow Mojang to concentrate on other features in the pipeline. What are they personally anticipating in the new 1.19 features, Vaknin is excited about seeing new Allay friends flying around the building and houses. Larsson is a player after my heart, is excited about finding new mangrove swamps and creating new builds with the reddish mangrove wood set and mud blocks. Minecraft 1.19 is available as a new version in your Minecraft Launcher. It comes with a long list notes on the patch. Today is also the day that all Minecraft users will have access to both Java or Bedrock versions of Minecraft regardless of whether they had previously owned one.
